Once upon a time, the totem you weaved for thousands of years became a container to hold culture

The way I weave you now stretches to the present day and becomes a code

we are tradition we are now

The cardboard box you moved from home to home was my driftwood

The tape that sticks the memories bundled together is my Miscanthus

Life is my container full of traditions

Moments with the present are the springs that feed me

Work 1 "Looking for a Raft"

Size / height 340cm x width 60cm

Medium/ yellow rattan, bamboo, fishing rod, ready-made objects

"Rafting" - the use of rattan back baskets often used by tribal people as installations and sculptures is a memory and reflection on the place where one lives. It also corresponds to when the entire ethnic group migrates, what remains among the tribes, and which is lost? As for the tribal people who migrated from their traditional ancestral places to their current places, and experienced the governance of various colonial regimes, how should the modern aborigines carry out memory retrospect and reflection on the future?

Young people these days often carry backpacks around the island for personal growth tours. They may have profound experiences all over the island, but what do they realize when they pass the tribe? I imitated their outfits and humbly went on a tribal awareness trip and reflected on it.

Work 2 "Totem Living"

Size / height 300cmx width 100cm

Material/ Rattan, Bamboo, Iron, Wool Felt, Thread, Readymade

"Totem Living" - collects the common living objects in the tribe from modern to traditional daily labor, and builds a totem device that records life from bottom to top (representing land, people, ancestral spirits, and heaven) in a surrounding manner. The way in which objects are collected is through investigation of tribal material life and story collection. The "totem" made from the elements of daily life "lives" on the tribal land and becomes a spiritual carrier with local characteristics.
